The Montreat Baseball Team (12-15) erased a five-run deficit to take a 10-9 win over Lenoir-Rhyne (13-23) Wednesday afternoon at Bears Field in a non-league game. The Cavaliers' Lance Gower (Indian Trail, N.C.) finished with four hits and three runs batted in as Montreat rallied from a 5-0 deficit en route to the victory.

The Cavaliers responded with a six-run third inning highlighted by a two-run hits from Brandon Harris (Gastonia, N.C.) and Gower for a 7-5 lead for Montreat.
L-R battled back again and led by an 8-7 score thanks to senior outfielder Rai Robinson's (Kings Mountain, N.C.) run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning but Montreat took the lead again for good with two runs in the bottom of the frame.
The Cavaliers' Pat Dawkins (Argyle, Texas) came through with the game-winning, RBI single in the bottom of the eighth as Montreat snapped a two-game losing streak. Montreat's Justin Haight (Wenatchee, Wash.) was credited with the win while Bradley Carpenter (Lincolnton, N.C.) registered the final two outs for the save.
For Lenoir-Rhyne, Robinson and sophomore outfielder Ivan Vieitez (Miami, Fla.) each added three hits and drove in a run but junior Austen Gunnels (Hitchcock, Texas) (0-4) suffered the loss on the mound.
Lenoir-Rhyne returns to South Atlantic Conference play on Friday when the Bears travel to Mars Hill, N.C., to face Mars Hill beginning at 3:00 p.m. Montreat plays at Point in a doubleheader on Friday at 1:00 p.m.
