Appalachian State’s Sebastien King has been named the Southern Conference’s Men’s Tennis Player of the Week for all matches played March 18-24. King
went 4-0 in last week as the Mountaineers split a pair of league matches. Appalachian State swept Davidson (7-0) before falling to Georgia Southern (4-3).
Competing at No. 1 singles for the Mountaineers, King earned a pair of victories with wins over Davidson’s Nicky Kunz and Georgia Southern’s Andrew Dromsky. King came away with a 6-3, 7-5 win over Kunz and pulled out a three-set win over Dromsky (7-5, 4-6, 7-6).
Paired with Zach Bost at No. 1 doubles, the Mountaineers’ top pair picked up a pair of victories. King and Bost topped Davidson’s Joe Schafer and Ethan Kallick, 8-4, before holding off GSU’s Marco Osorio and Rayane Djouad, 9-7. King and Bost have now won their last four matches for the Mountaineers.
Appalachian State (4-9, 2-2 SoCon) returns to the courts Friday when the Mountaineers host UNCG (9-2, 3-2 SoCon).
Other top performers in the Southern Conference included Elon’s Jordan Kaufman, Georgia Southern’s Rayane Djouad, UNCG’s Daniel Mack and Chattanooga’s Manuel Barroetavena.
