Kosmala, Drummonds Pace WHS At North Stokes PDF Print

Doria Kosmala and Taylor Drummonds posted four top-five finishes and led the Watauga High girl's track team to a second-place finish at the Vikings Invitational at North Stokes High in

Danbury, N.C., on Saturday. Kosmala won the 1,600-meter run in the record time of 5:19.98; she finished second in the 800 in 2:31.73. Lily Weeks was fifth in the 800 (2:39.04) and Kathleen Mansure finished fourth in the 1,600 (5:58.23).
Drummonds, who has signed with East Carolina University to run track next year, won the 100-meter hurdles in 16.40; she finished second in the pole vault with an effort of 9-feet, -inches. Belle Lehman finished second in the 100 hurdles (17.03), and she brought home the gold in the 300 hurdles by crossing the finish line in 50.90. Stephanie Pawlyszyn finished third in the pole vault with an effort of eight feet.
WHS also won the 4x800 relay and set a course record by finishing first in 10:15.45. Overall, the girls had 14 top-five finishes. WHS finished second with 108 points; North Stokes won the girls meet with 119 points on a record-setting day that saw nine records broken in both the boy's and girl's competition.
The WHS boys finished fourth with 75 points. The Pioneers won two events---Bryan Brackney in the 800 (1:59.66) and the 4x800 relay (8:51.16). The WHS boys had ten top-five finishes. Josh Anderson finished second in the 3,200 (10:23.40); Michael Holland was third (10:25.47), and Drew Boyette was fourth (10:48.32).
The Pioneers also had a third-place finish in the 4x200 relay (1:38.69). Matt Osborne finished fourth in the 1,600 (4:52.48); WHS finished fourth in the 4x400 relay (3:48.73); Matthew Hall finished second in the pole vault (ten feet) and fourth in the high jump (5-6); Justin Hall was fourth in the triple jump (36-7).
South Stokes won the boy's meet with 117 points. The Pioneers travel to Taylorsville, N.C., for a tri-meet Wednesday with Alexander Central and Fred T. Foard.
