Mackey,Frazier Leads LMC At HPU PDF Print

Devan Mackey (Hickory, N.C.) placed fourth in the shot put, and Ryan Trask (Cobleskill, N.Y.) set a new school record in the discus throw to pace the Lees-McRae College men's track and

field team to an impressive performance at High Point University's Vert Klassie Meeting Invitational on Saturday afternoon. Trask kicked off the afternoon in record-setting style, placing 12th in the "A" section of the discus throw with a mark of 38.93 meters as Mackey finished 15th with a toss of 34.50 meters. Michael Davis (Independence, Va.) placed 15th in the "B" section of the one-mile run, posting a time of 4:24.35, as Matthew MacPhail (Spartanburg, S.C.) and Jordan Meyer (Inman, S.C.) turned in marks of 4:56.00 and 5:22.49, respectively.
Ian Harned (Pine Level, N.C.) finished sixth in the "B" section of the 400-meter run with a time of 50.88 seconds, while Travis Burton (Newberry, S.C.) placed 13th with a mark of 51.61 seconds. Jarrett Gibson (Marietta, Ga.) and Davante Scott (Hopkins, S.C.) posted times of 52.95 and 54.16 seconds, respectively, in the event.
Joshua Soto (Aiken, S.C.) placed 12th in the 100-meter dash "B" section with a mark of 11.68 seconds, while Brandon Williams (Raleigh, N.C.) and Razhede Highsmith (Gastonia, N.C.) finished 13th and 15th, respectively, with times of 11.74 and 11.76 seconds.
Soto posted a time of 23.36 seconds in the 200-meter dash "B" section, as Burton and Williams finished with marks of 23.56 and 23.59 seconds, respectively. Highsmith posted a time of 23.88 seconds in the event. Gabriel Tobias (Lenoir, N.C.) turned in a time of 2:10.69 in the "B" section of the 800-meter run, while Justin Floyd (Newton, N.C.) placed 12th in the "B" long jump with a mark of 5.83 meters.
Trask continued his strong day in the "B" section of the javelin, finishing fifth with a mark of 37.85 meters, as Mackey placed fourth in the shot put "B" section with a toss of 11.55 meters.
Highsmith, Williams, Gibson, and Soto turned in one of the top performances of the day in the "A" section of the 4x100-meter relay, finishing fourth with a time of 43.09 seconds, as Williams placed 10th in the 110-meter hurdles "A" section with a mark of 15.63 seconds.
Gibson, Davis, Burton and Harned finished 11th in the "A" section of the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:26.96, while Burton posted a mark of 1.83 meters in the "A" high jump to place 12th.
On the women's side, Kayla Frazier (Chesterfield, S.C.) placed third in the javelin throw to pace the Lees-McRae College women's track and field team to a strong performance at High Point University's Vert Klassie Meeting Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
Iesha Poindexter (Jetterville, Va.) kicked off the day with a fifth-place finish in the 100-meter dash "B" section, crossing the line in 13.06 seconds, as Sarah Monday (Lexington, N.C.) and Jessica McEnaney (Cary, N.C.) posted identical times of 13.67 seconds. Auburn Lowe (Swain County, N.C.) finished with a mark of 14.01 seconds, while Taryn Moorhead (Deer Park, Wash.) posted a time of 14.41 seconds in the event.
Meagan Thornton (Millville, N.J.) placed seventh in the 100-meter hurdles "B" section, posting a time of 16.29 seconds. McEnaney crossed the line in 28.44 seconds in the 200-meter dash "B" section, as Monday and Lowe posted marks of 28.55 and 29.30 seconds, respectively. Mallory Overholt (Grand Bend, Ontario, Canada) turned in a strong performance in the 800-meter run "B" section with a time of 2:49.30.
Frazier enjoyed a trio of impressive showings on the day, placing third in the javelin "B" section with a mark of 24.63 meters, while finishing 10th in the "B" discus and 17th in the "B" shot put with throws of 32.78 and 9.30 meters, respectively.
Jamara Cook (Claremont, N.C.) placed 13th in both the "B" discus and the "B" shot put, posting marks of 31.38 and 9.94 meters, respectively, as Genay Miller (Woodstock, Ga.) finished 12th in the javelin "B" section with a throw of 19.12 meters. Moorhead posted a mark of 2.67 meters in the "B" pole vault, placing seventh, as Rachelle Cleveland (Moyock, N.C.) finished eighth in the "B" shot put with a throw of 10.66 meters.
Miller placed 20th in the "B" shot put with a mark of 8.91 meters, while Lowe finished 15th in the long jump "B" section with a leap of 4.23 meters. Thornton turned in a strong performance in the "A" section of the 400-meter hurdles, finishing 10th with a time of 1:06.24, before teaming with McEnaney, Monday, and Poindexter to place 12th in the 4x100-meter relay "A" section with a mark of 51.38 seconds.
Cleveland finished 14th in the "A" javelin, posting a mark of 29.80 meters, as Kortnie Curry (Lexington, N.C.) placed ninth in the high jump "A" section with a leap of 1.60 meters. Persephanie McRae (Brooklyn, N.Y.) placed 13th in the high jump behind Curry with a mark of 1.52 meters.
Lees-McRae returns to action on Saturday, April 6 when the Bobcats travel to Spartanburg, S.C. to take part in Wofford University's Terrier Relays.
