So the arrival of spring yesterday is met with—snow-making at Appalachian Ski Mountain. And the first full day of spring brings—real snow—and real cold. Making lemonade out of the situation, Brad Moretz of App Ski said that the late season snow is a bonus that they’re taking advantage of,
hoping for a great weekend of skiing. He told WSOC-TV that making snow in the latter part of March is almost unheard of, but with the forecast, he felt enough interest in extending the ski season warranted the effort. And with all the school systems in the High Country calling off classes today, there might be a good number of students taking advantage of the weather to hit the slopes. Gunther Jochl of Sugar Mountain Ski Resort said that, with this weather, the end is not in sight.
