One Dead as Fire Totals Boone Apartment PDF Print

Boone Fire officials have confirmed a body has been found inside the apartment found on fire just before 4 this morning just outside Boone. Fire and Watauga Sheriff’s Office investigators on the scene of the say that the search of the structure led to the discovery, after the fire was knocked down in short order, according to Boone Fire Chief Jimmy Isaacs. The call came in at 3:58 this morning at 564 Homespun Hills, first arriving units found the structure fully involved, but several of the residents were outside, safe from the fire—but the resident of the upper level was missing—and has now been found deceased. Departments from across Watauga were called to the scene for water and firefighting help, Blowing Rock Fire, Cove Creek Fire, Deep Gap Fire, Foscoe Fire, Watauga Medics, and the Watauga Rescue on the scene.
