 The Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Golf Team began competition Monday at the Pinehurst Challenge, hosted by Wingate University, at the National Golf Club. L-R is led by senior Megan Katsch (Wilmington, N.C.),
who is tied for 36th overall after the first round of play with an 86 (+14) on the par-72, 5,840-yard course. UNC Pembroke leads after the first 18 holes with a 322 (+34) while Carson-Newman's Meridith Hawkins is the top individual with a two-over 74. Freshmen Elizabeth Ewing (Greensboro, N.C.) and Temple Cook (Morganton, N.C.) are also competing in the tournament for the Bears. Ewing is tied for 51st with a 90 (+18) while Cook is 84th overall with a 103 (+31) with one round to go. The second and final round of the tournament takes place on Tuesday.
