Lees-McRae College sophomore Ryan Harrison (Lake Mary, Fla.) and junior Katelin Rooney (Naples, Fla.) have been named the Male and Female Student-Athletes of the Month for February 2013, announced College officials Wednesday.
Harrison put together one of the best months of his career in February, averaging 15 saves per game to enter March ranked fourth in the nation. The sophomore netminder recorded at least 10 stops in all but one game, including four contests with at least 17 saves. A native of Lake Mary, Fla., Harrison posted a season-high 22 stops against No. 3 Limestone College on February 27.
Rooney led the Bobcats to a 1-1 record to open the season, including a 20-4 victory over Emmanuel College (Ga.) on February 9. The junior attack kicked off the campaign in style against Emmanuel, scoring six goals and dishing out an assist. Rooney also scored against Belmont Abbey College on February 27, her seventh of the season and 27th of her career.
The Lees-McRae College Student-Athlete of the Month Award honors one male and one female student-athlete each much from an in-season sport during the 2012-2013 academic year, recognizing their hard work, effort, and athletic performance.
