The Lenoir-Rhyne Softball Team (18-5, 4-0) remained unbeaten in South Atlantic Conference play and ran its winning streak to seven games with a doubleheader sweep of Wingate (15-12-1, 1-3), 4-3 and 6-5, Wednesday afternoon at Bears Field.

Game One - Lenoir-Rhyne 4, Wingate 3
Two Bears scored on a throwing error with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning in the victory. Junior third baseman Haily Jarman (Wadesboro, N.C.) crossed home plate with the game-winning run for Lenoir-Rhyne.
Wingate had taken a 3-2 advantage with two runs in the top of the seventh inning thanks to three L-R errors in the frame. Lenoir-Rhyne freshman Maryann Hoskins (Havelock, N.C.) improved to 7-2 on the year after earning the win in relief while sophomore designated player Katie Carpenter (Newton, N.C.) finished with a pair of hits and an RBI.
For Wingate, Stacey Houser (Mooresville, N.C.) suffered the setback on the mound while Brittany Loudermilt (Stony Point, N.C.) hit a solo home run in the loss.
Game Two - Lenoir-Rhyne 6, Wingate 5 (eight innings)
Senior pinch hitter Megan Laxton (Taylorsville, N.C.) came through with the game-winning, RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning to complete the doubleheader sweep.
Lenoir-Rhyne sophomore outfielder Brittany Coursen (Virginia Beach, Va.) scored the game-winning run as the Bears rallied from a four-run deficit for the win.
Lenoir-Rhyne forced extra innings when Jarman hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth inning to tie the contest at five. Jarman now has a team-leading six home runs on the year for the Bears.
Wingate's Alexis Burrell (Chesapeake, Va.) hit a two-run home run as well as the Bulldogs staked themselves to a 5-1 advantage before the Bears began their rally.
L-R freshman Brandi Hole (Sandy Ridge, N.C.) improved to 10-3 after notching the win in relief while Houser (10-6) again suffered the loss.
Lenoir-Rhyne travels to Newberry, S.C., to face Newberry in a conference doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 1:00 p.m. Wingate, meanwhile, hosts Carson-Newman in a SAC doubleheader on Saturday at 1:00 p.m., as well.
