It’s not a reunion anyone really wanted to have—the New River Service Authority notifying its board that they will meet in early April. The issue is, well, a number of issues—legal issues, with some 79 plaintiffs filing suit against the board last April alleging fraud, negligence, conspiracy
and breach of contract. Another 18 small claims cases involve former employees, claiming lost wages and vacation compensation pending in Watauga County District Court. New River appealed the judgments last year, then the board dissolved the agency in June. Current plan is for the meeting to be at 4 p.m. April 4 at the Watauga County Commissioners Board Room, but that could change depending on availability of a quorum. |
