Bears Overwhelm Young Harris, 16-2 PDF Print

The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Lacrosse Team (4-3) scored early and often in handing Young Harris (4-2) a 16-2 defeat Tuesday afternoon at Moretz Stadium.

L-R sophomore Connor Squires (Lawrenceville, Ga.) led all scorers with five goals as the Bears won their third consecutive match. Junior Robert Darrow (Fort Myers, Fla.) added three goals and junior Sam Ashton (Butler, Pa.) totaled two goals and four assists in the victory as well for the Bears.
Lenoir-Rhyne held a 5-2 lead early in the second period before reeling off the final 11 goals of the match. L-R also held Young Harris scoreless in the second half and finished the contest with a 49-19 advantage in shots taken and a 36-24 edge in ground balls.
L-R sophomore Ned Kaish (Atlanta, Ga.) dished out four assists as well and junior Fred Waddle (Colorado Springs, Colo.) scored twice for the Bears.
In goal, Lenoir-Rhyne junior Steven McGhee (Durham, N.C.) improved to 4-0 on the year after playing the first half and stopping a pair of shots.
For Young Harris, Tyler Price (Peachtree City, Ga.) and Matt Spadafora (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada) scored while goalkeeper Ryan Pickowitz (Rio Rancho, N.M.) was tagged with the loss despite making seven saves.
Lenoir-Rhyne remains at home on Friday when it hosts Saint Leo in a Deep South Conference match beginning at 7:00 p.m. Young Harris returns home to host Ohio Valley Friday at 1:00 p.m.
