The Lenoir-Rhyne Softball Team (16-5) swept a doubleheader from USC Aiken (14-8-1), 2-0 and 5-4, Monday afternoon at Bears Field. The sweep gives L-R Head Coach Shena Hollar 600 career coaching victories.

Game One - Lenoir-Rhyne 2, USC Aiken 0
L-R freshman Brandi Hole (Sandy Ridge, N.C.) threw her first shutout of the year in the win.
Hole allowed just four hits to go along with four strikeouts while USC Aiken's India Kornegay (Eufaula, Ala.) suffered the loss despite allowing just three hits in addition to striking out nine batters.
Senior outfielder Megan Laxton (Taylorsville, N.C.) provided the lone offense of the game with a two-run double in the bottom of the second inning for the Bears.
Game Two - Lenoir-Rhyne 5, USC Aiken 4 (eight innings)
L-R sophomore catcher Katie Carpenter (Newton, N.C.) walked with the bases loaded in the bottom of the eighth to end the game and give the Bears the doubleheader sweep.
USC Aiken forced extra innings thanks to Alyssa Cook's (St. Leonard, Md.) run-scoring single in the sixth frame. Cook finished with a game-high three hits in the contest.
Junior third baseman Haily Jarman (Wadesboro, N.C.), senior first baseman Jessica Fellmeth (Waxhaw, N.C.) and freshman shortstop Chelsey Long (Nakina, N.C.) all hit home runs for the Bears in the victory, the team's fifth straight.
Hole (9-3) earned the win in relief while Kornegay (7-4) again took the defeat. Kornegay allowed just one hit while striking out 11 batters in the setback.
Lindsey Jones (North Augusta, S.C.) hit a bases-clearing double in the third inning for the Pacers, who lost for the third time this year to the Bears. Lenoir-Rhyne remains at home on Wednesday when it hosts Wingate in a South Atlantic Conference doubleheader beginning at 3:00 p.m. USC Aiken plays at Young Harris on Wednesday afternoon at 3:00 p.m., as well.
