The Lenoir-Rhyne Baseball Team (6-16, 2-8) saw its seven-game losing streak come to an end after defeating Anderson (5-17, 1-9), 8-1, Friday night in a South Atlantic Conference contest at Bears Field. L-R junior Eric Ryan (Baltimore, Md.)
picked up his first win of the season after allowing just one run over seven innings. Ryan (1-3) also scattered just five hits while striking out eight batters en route to the victory.
L-R took control early by scoring a run in each of the first four innings and leading by a 5-0 score entering the fifth frame. Senior first baseman Colton Hansley (Asheville, N.C.) got things going for the Bears with an RBI double in the first inning.
Hansley finished with three hits and drove in a pair of runs while senior outfielder Logan Senelis-Jose (St. Thomas, Virgin Islands) added pair of hits and a game-high three runs batted in as well for Lenoir-Rhyne. David Martin was 0-3 with an RBI.
Anderson's Shawn Delmontagne (St. Petersburg, Fla.) walked with the bases loaded for the Trojans' lone run of the game in the top of the seventh inning.
L-R put the contest away with three runs in its half of the seventh capped off by an RBI single by Senelis-Jose.
Anderson's J.T. Trujillo (Jupiter, Fla.) fell to 2-3 on the year after suffering the loss on the mound for the Trojans.
The two teams will wrap up this weekend's South Atlantic Conference series with a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon. First pitch is set for 1:00 p.m., at Bears Field.
