Mazie Jones Levenson Passes Away PDF Print

The last living member of the Jones family, for which the Jones House in downtown Boone is named, died Wednesday in Winston-Salem. According to her obituary, Mazie Jones Levenson, 99, passed away on March 6, 2013, at Arbor Acres in Winston-Salem. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 15, 2013, at Christ United Methodist Church located at 410 N. Holden Road, Greensboro, where she was a charter member. Mazie was born Jan. 18, 1914, in Boone, to Dr. John Walter and Mattie Blackburn Jones. She graduated from Appalachian State University, received a Master's in Education from George Peabody College in Nashville, Tenn., and later a Master's from the UNC-CH School of Public Health.
