Boone Police are issuing a warning after an incident from early this morning on West King Street—the same area where a coed was raped two weeks ago. Police say that at 12:54 a.m., the Boone Police Department received a report of a suspicious incident in the 200 block of West King Street, as a female reported that a Hispanic male attempted to engage the complainant in conversation in Spanish. The woman ran to her apartment and reported that she heard his footsteps behind her. She safely made it into her apartment safely, then notified Boone Police. The caller described the subject as being approximately 5’4”, heavy set, and in his thirties. He was last seen wearing a red plaid jacket and dark pants. Detective Kat Brackenridge, the Boone investigator on the rape case said,  “At this time it does not appear that a crime was committed; however, we wanted to make the members of our community aware of this situation after what occurred a few weeks ago. We cannot say that one incident is related to the other, but we do want people to be alert.” It was February 24th that Boone Police took a report of a rape a block away from this apartment. The suspect in that case was similar in description to the subject in this morning’s incident. Both incidents are currently under investigation by the Boone Police Department.
