 Watauga High junior Demetre Kostis has been named the Northwestern 3A/4A Conference Wrestler of the Year. Kostis was the NW3A/4A Conference
champion and the Class 4A Western Regional champion at 132 pounds this season. Kostis, who was also named an All-NW3A/4A Conference performer, was 50-0 before he tasted defeated for the first time this season in the quarterfinal round of the state championships in Greensboro last Friday. Kostis finished the season with an impressive 50-2 record. Joining Kostis for NW3A/4A All-Conference Team were Gus Coffey and Mark Townsend. Alexander Central, which won the regular-season championship, had eight players selected to the all-conference team; St. Stephens and Fred T. Foard were next with six selections apiece. Foard won the Class 3A state dual team title. Josh Williamson of Alexander Central was named the NW3A/4A Coach of the Year.
