Two Teens in Trouble After False Assault Claim PDF Print

Two teens are now in more trouble than their original predicament, after they reported that they were assault victims from an incident in Tennessee last night. The girl, said to be 14, called 911 reporting that she regained consciousness at a location in Avery County just before 9 last night, saying she woke in a car, finding her male companion still semiconscious, telling dispatchers she did not know where they were, describing her surroundings as a very dark, wooded place.  The GPS system placed her call as coming from a location on Taylor Road, and that’s where arriving deputies found the Tennessee registered white 97 Oldsmobile and the pair, then called for emergency medical responders from staging nearby to start helping the couple. The girl told dispatchers the two had been in Elizabethton Tennessee when accosted by a black male carrying a club or other weapon, and that both were struck—that at about 5:45 late yesterday afternoon, but Avery investigators have now said that the young couple—the boy 16, girl 14—drove across the state line for a romantic moment, then found they had a flat tire.  While trying to fix it, the boy fell and hit his head, and the stuck couple then concocted a tale to tell.  Avery deputies called in search dogs to see if there was a trail to follow from the car, but Sheriff Kevin Frye eventually derived the truth from the pair. Just what consequences will come are pending.
