![]() A great season came to an end for Watauga High junior Demetre Kostis on Friday night at the Greensboro Coliseum. Kostis, the Northwestern 3A/4A Conference wrestler of the Year, and the Class 4A Western Regional champion, saw his dreams of winning a state championship come to an end Friday afternoon at the North Carolina High School Athletic Association Class 4A State Wrestling Championships. Justin Scarborough (33-11) of the Huskies lost to Levi Slate of North Surry by pinfall (3:13) in his semifinal match at 182 pounds. Scarborough defeated Alex Jones of Beddingfield 12-10 in the quarters. Scarborough will face Collin Minor (52-9) of Newton-Conover in the consolation semifinals. Scarboirough defeated Minor 6-5 in the opening round on Friday. Lucas Miller (35-5) of the Huskies was eliminated by Cody Shook of Bunker Hill 14-9 in overtime, in his second-round consolation match at 170 pounds. Miller lost to Cole Leighton of Black Mountain-Owen 12-10 in OT in the state quarters.
