Matt Proffitt is raising some eyebrows at Brevard College. The former Watauga High All-Stater led his new team, the Tornadoes, to a 2-1, nine-inning victory Saturday against Carson-Newman in a South Atlantic Conference game.

Proffitt was 1-3 in game one and he drove in the tying run in the bottom of the eight inning with a run-scoring single. He also threw out the potential go-ahead run at the plate in the top of the ninth.
Proffitt was 0-3 in a 2-0 loss in game two of that double header. He had a base hit in four trips and scored a run in a 7-5 loss on Sunday. The Tornadoes are 5-8.
Proffitt, in 13 games, is batting .239 with 11 hits, including four doubles, ten runs scored, four runs-batted-in with a stolen base. Tuesday's game with Lander University (Greenwood, S.C.) was rained out.
Max Linnville, who played for the Pioneers last season and signed with Western Carolina University, has transferred to Holy Cross College in South Bend, IN. He made his college debut Saturday for the Saints against Oakland City University.
Linnville was 0-4 with a run scored and an RBI. Monday, in a double header loss to Oakland City, Linnville, batting lead-off, was 2-3 with a walk in a 7-0 loss in game one; he was 1-3 with a run scored and an RBI in a 6-5 loss in game two.
Linnville is batting an even .300 with a double and two RBI in his first three games. The Saints (0-3) play Oberlin College at home Saturday.
