The Lenoir-Rhyne Softball Team (9-4) wrapped up its play at the Catawba Invitational Monday morning with a 10-3 win over East Stroudsburg (0-4) at the Salisbury Community Park.
Sophomore outfielder Brittany Coursen (Virginia Beach, Va.) hit a three-run home run for the Bears as part of a five-run second inning as L-R beat East Stroudsburg for the second time in as many days.
The Bears' five-run second inning broke the contest open and Lenoir-Rhyne rounded out the scoring with four more runs in the fourth frame.
Senior outfielder Megan Laxton (Taylorsville, N.C.) added a two-run home run for the Bears in the fourth and finished with a pair of hits and three RBI on the day.
Coursen led L-R offensively with two hits and four runs batted in while freshman shortstop Chelsey Long (Nakina, N.C.) also drove in two runs for the Bears in the win.
On the mound, Lenoir-Rhyne freshman Brandi Hole (Sandy Ridge, N.C.) improved to 5-2 on the year after earning the victory in relief while East Stroudsburg's Laura Suits (New Paltz, N.Y.) suffered the setback.
The Warriors were led by Sierra Wagner (Coatesville, Pa.) with three hits including a solo home run to lead off the contest in the losing effort.
Lenoir-Rhyne travels to Misenheimer, N.C., to take on Pfeiffer in a doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon beginning at 1:30 p.m., in a non-conference affair.
