Evan Webb (Salisbury, N.C.) continued his strong junior season for the Lees-McRae College men's track and field team on Sunday afternoon, finishing first in the pole vault at George Mason University's Last Chance Meet with a school-record

jump of 5.05 meters. With his school-record vault, Webb moves into a tie for sixth on the national leader's list, virtually ensuring himself a spot in the field at the NCAA Division II Indoor National Championships on March 8. Webb has steadily improved throughout the season, opening the campaign with a mark of 4.90 meters at Appalachian State Invitational in December and progressively raising the bar en route to his school-record mark on Sunday. The victory also marks Webb's fourth win of the season in five meets.
Lees-McRae will open the outdoor season on Friday, March 1 when the Bobcats travel to Hickory, N.C. to take part in the Power Sox Invitational, hosted by Lenoir-Rhyne University. Junior Kortnie Curry (Lexington, N.C.) posted a mark of 1.55 meters to finish ninth in the high jump competition on Sunday afternoon to pace the Lees-McRae College women's track and field team at George Mason University's Last Chance Meet.
Curry placed ninth with a mark of 1.55 meters, falling just short of her previous personal best. The Lexington, N.C. native currently sits tied for 27th on the national leader's list with a mark of 1.67 meters, which ranks first in the Bobcat record book.
