Watauga High principal Marshall Gasperson has announced that Ryan Habich will be named the new football coach Friday morning at a 10:30 a.m. , press conference in the WHS Media Center. Habich, who played college football at Western

Illinois University and Mars Hill College, replaces Athletic Director Tom Wright, who coached the Pioneers on an interim basis last fall.
Wright resigned in December. Habich was 79-25 in eight years at Fuquay-Varina (2005-2012). He led the Bengals to six conference titles in eight years, and two sectional finals in three years (2006 and 2009). Habich inherits a team that was 5-7 last season.
