Lenoir-Rhyne's B.J. Beasley has been named the South Atlantic Conference Men's Basketball Player Of The Week, league officials announced this afternoon.
Beasley, a senior forward from Charlotte, N.C., averaged 21.5 points and 12.5 rebounds in leading L-R to pair of conference wins over Catawba (86-74) and Brevard (71-60) last Wednesday and Saturday, respectively. Beasley scored a career-high 25 points to go along with 12 rebounds in the Bears' overtime victory against the Indians on the road before an 18-point, 13-rebound effort at home against the Tornados. Beasley also shot 72.2 percent (13-of-18) from the floor for the week and averaged 2.0 assists and 2.0 steals as well. On the year, Beasley is third on the team in scoring (9.0 ppg) and leads the squad in rebounding (6.2 rpg). Beasley is the second Lenoir-Rhyne player to win the league's weekly honor in the last three weeks (Denzel Dillingham earned the award on Monday, February 4). Lenoir-Rhyne (16-6, 9-5) next hosts Tusculum (6-16, 4-10) on Wednesday evening in a conference contest at Shuford Memorial Gymnasium beginning at 8:00 p.m.
