Friday afternoon, just before 2:30, Boone Police Officers responded to a reported larceny of a firearm from a Shadowline Drive business. Employees told Boone Police a suspect entered the store and while the employees were distracted, concealed the firearm and left the store. A second suspect
drove the waiting getaway vehicle, according to police, and Boone Police Department investigators were able to identify the suspects from video surveillance. With that information and help from other agencies, they arrested Wesley Alan Cox, 19, and 17 year old Cameron Lloyd Cox, both of Deep Gap. Each was charged with one count of Felonious Larceny and one count of Larceny of a Firearm. Wesley Cox was held in the Watauga County Detention Facility under a $15,000 secured bond pending a March 26th court appearance, while Cameron Cox was held in the Ashe County Detention Facility under a $4,000 secured bond pending a February 20th court appearance. The Boone Police release said the firearm has not been recovered, and Investigators are asking anyone with information that might help to find this firearm to contact High Country Crime Stoppers at 828-268-6959. All information will be kept confidential and you may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000. The Boone Police Department thanked the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office, Ashe County Sheriff’s Office and North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation for their assistance in the case. |
