A fire alarm was pulled just after 6am Saturday February 16th after shots were fired inside a Boone Apartment causing both Police and Fire to be dispatched. Boone Fire, Police Officers, and Watauga County Sheriff’s Officers responded to 451 Yosef Drive after reports of shots being fired, arriving officers discovering that the suspect had fired a firearm inside an apartment and then fled the area.  Police say that as the suspect fled, he activated the building’s fire alarm system in an attempt to conceal his identity, then ran to the parking lot as law enforcement and fire units arrived. Boone Police Officers and Watauga Sheriff’s Office found the suspect hiding inside a vehicle in the parking lot and had to forcefully take him into custody.  Arrested was Jacob Arnold Miller, 21, listing a Boone, address.  Miller was charged with Discharging a Weapon into an Occupied Dwelling, Breaking and Entering of a Motor Vehicle, Injury to Real Property, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Resisting a Public Officer, and Molesting a Fire Alarm.  There was no indication in the press release about what might have led to the incident. Miller was placed under a $75,000 secured bond pending a March 26th, court appearance.
