| Lenoir-Rhyne Softball Takes Two From King |

The Lenoir-Rhyne Softball Team (6-2) swept a doubleheader from King (2-6), 4-3 and 4-2, Friday afternoon at the King Softball Complex in non-league action.
Game One - Lenoir-Rhyne 4, King 3 (eight innings) Sophomore designated player Katie Carpenter (Newton, N.C.) came through with the game-winning, RBI single in the eighth inning to lift the Bears to the win. Trailing by a 3-1 score, King scored twice in the bottom of the sixth capped off by a run-scoring single from Octavia Lewis-Rand (Columbus, Ga.) to force extra innings. Lenoir-Rhyne freshman Brandi Hole (Sandy Ridge, N.C.) pitched two scoreless innings to register the win while King's Hannah Light (Coeburn, Va.) fell to 1-3 after suffering the loss. Box Score Game Two - Lenoir-Rhyne 4, King 2 Hole (3-1) earned the victory after pitching a shutout into the seventh inning while freshman Maryann Hoskins (Beaufort, N.C.) registered the final two outs for her second save of the year as the Bears completed the doubleheader sweep. Hoskins struck out both batters as King left two runners on when the final out was recorded. The Bears were clinging to a 1-0 advantage before plating three runs in the top of the sixth inning which included an RBI single by Carpenter and freshman pinch hitter Ashley Oliver's (Newton, N.C.) run-scoring sacrifice fly. Lewis-Rand hit a home run in the seventh inning for King while Morgan White (Suwanee, Ga.) fell to 1-1 on the season after suffering the loss for the Lady Tornado. Box Score Lenoir-Rhyne returns home to face West Virginia Wesleyan on Sunday in a doubleheader beginning at 1:00 p.m., at Bears Field. King, meanwhile, hosts USC Aiken in a doubleheader on Tuesday beginning at 2:00 p.m.
