 Pfeiffer College (1-7) finally cracked the win column on Tuesday with a 6-4 win against Brevard College (2-3) in Misenheimer, N.C.
The game also featured a pair of former Watauga High baseball players. Matt Proffitt, who was named All-State his senior year at WHS, played for Brevard, batted second, was 1-5, and left two men on base; Dylan Norris, who graduated from WHS in 2011, played for Pfeiffer. He threw one scoreless inning in relief with a strikeout. On the year, Proffitt, a true freshman, has played and started five games for the Tornadoes. He's batting .250 with four hits, including a double and an run-batted-in; Norris a sophomore, has made four appearances for the Falcons. He doesn't have a decision, but he's given up nine earned runs in 6.2 innings with a 12.15 earned-run-average with four walks and four strikeouts. Ethan Greene, the ace of WHS' pitching staff last spring and a true freshman, has struggled, so far. He's give up 16 earned runs in two starts. He's 0-2 with an 18.00 ERA with four walks and four strikeouts. Pfeiffer is a Division II school and a member of Conference Carolinas; Brevard is a Division II school and a member of the South Atlantic Conference.
