Pioneers Compete At State Swimming Championships PDF Print

The Watauga High boys and girls swimming teams had two relay teams and one individual competing at the Class 4A North Carolina High School Athletic Association State Championships at the Triangle Aquatic Center in Cary, N.C.,

Thursday. Senior Darby Middlebrook finished 19th in the girls 500-freestyle as she finished the race in 5:23.07. Hannah Moore of Green Hope finished first in 4:47.66.
The girls 400 freestyle relay team (Darby Middlebrook, Carson Middlebrook, Julianna Silver, and Anne Taylor) finished 21st in 3:54.10. Cornelius-Hough won the race in 3:24.83. The boys 400 freestyle relay sqaud (Forrest Brown, Noah Alain, Brandon Michelsen and Marcus Funston) finished 24th in 3:39.66. Greenville-Rose won the event in 3:09.19.
Cornelius-Hough won the girls championship for the second year in a row; Greenville-Rose won the boys championship.
