A West Jefferson woman was hurt in a morning accident in Ashe County.  50-year old Penny Watts dropped a wheel off the right side of NC 163 traveling north at about 11:15 this morning, then pulled too strongly to try to control the car.  Trooper Aldridge said Watts’ Hyundai Elantra ran across the road, slamming into the guardrail, then crossed the highway again, slamming into a ditch before coming to rest in the yard of a home. Penny Watts was taken to Ashe Memorial mainly to be checked out, according to the trooper, who cited her with Failure to Maintain Lane Control in the crash that totaled her car.
