The NCHSAA Class 4A State Swimming Championships will be held Thursday at the Triangle Aquatic Center in Cary, N.C. The Pioneers will have two relay teams and one individual competing in the state finals. The girls 400 freestyle relay team

(Darby Middlebrook, Carson Middlebrook, Julianna Silver, and Anne Taylor) qualified for state by finishing eighth at the Class 4A Western Regional Championships last Saturday in Huntersville, N.C..
The boys 400 rreestyle relay team, led by Forrest Brown, Noah Allain, Brandon Michelsen, and Marcus Funston finished eighth at regionals last Saturday. Darby Middlebrook was the only individual qualifier. She finished sixth in the 500 freestyle, and set a new school record (5:22.02) in the process.
The top eight finishers at regionals from each event qualified for the state meet.

Facility opens – 7:00 am
Pool open for general warm-ups: 7:30-8:00 am
Specific sprint lanes and specific assignments: 8:00-8:15 am
Clear the pool for coaches’ meeting: 8:15 am
Coaches’ meeting: 8:20 am (Head coach and captain must attend)
Prelims: Begin after coaches’ meeting until completion

Facility opens for finals: 3:30 pm
Final warm-ups: 4:00 pm
Finals: 5:00 pm
