 The Lenoir-Rhyne University Women's Tennis Team was picked to finish 10th in the South Atlantic Conference Preseason Coaches Poll. Wingate, the two-time defending league champions, was picked to three-peat after receiving eight out of the possible 10 first-place votes.
Sophomore Maggie Brown (Cranford, N.J.) tallied a team-high four singles victories in 2012 while senior Ivey Tant (Lansing, N.C.) notched three wins in singles play and are two of the top returnees this season for the Bears. Lenoir-Rhyne opens the season on Sunday, February 3, against North Georgia in Dahlonega, Ga., beginning at 1:00 p.m. L-R's originally-scheduled season opener at Young Harris on Saturday has been moved to Saturday, March 23, at 2:00 p.m. Lenoir-Rhyne takes on Wingate in its home opener on Tuesday, February 12, at 2:30 p.m. All of the Bears' home matches take place at Hickory High School.
