Lenoir-Rhyne University's Ivan Vieitez has been named to the 2013 All-South Atlantic Conference Baseball Preseason Second Team, league officials

announced this afternoon. Vieitez, a sophomore outfielder from Miami, Fla., started all 49 games for the Bears last spring and finished with a .301 batting average, five home runs and 38 runs batted in.
Vieitez also led the team in stolen bases (17) and triples (six) in 2012 to go along with 32 runs scored, 86 total bases and a .497 slugging percentage.
Vieitez pitched in relief last year as well, finishing with a win and 10 strikeouts in nine appearances.
In addition, Lenoir-Rhyne (12-37, 8-19) was voted to finish ninth in the 2013 South Atlantic Conference Coaches Preseason Poll.
Tusculum and Catawba were both picked to win the conference title this year after each squad received five first-place votes.
The Pioneers won the regular season championship last season while the Indians placed second and advanced to the NCAA Division II College World Series before falling in the national semifinals.
Lenoir-Rhyne opens the season this Saturday, February 2, with a doubleheader at home against Mount Olive beginning at Noon. The Trojans are ranked third in this year's NCAA Division II Collegiate Baseball National Preseason Poll.
