Linsell and McKenie LaSure defeated GMU's Kiersten Pappas and Brittany Pilkington in the No. 1 doubles match (8-2), along with Jennifer Ansari and Clare Cox, who defeated Maya Hicks and E. Erdenebat who also recorded an 8-2 victory at the No. 2 position. In the No. 3 spot, Mountaineers Jessica Thaggard and Gabby Gabriel fell to E. Desiatnikova and Ashley Delaney in a 8-6 set.
App State swept through singles action, beginning with LInsell, who defeated Pilkington at No. 1 (6-3, 6-2).  Cox handed Hicks a loss in at the No. 2 spot (6-1, 6-1), along with Ansari, who played past Delaney at No. 3 (6-2, 6-0).
Rounding out singles action against the Patriots were newcomer Brianna Amerllino, who won No. 4 singles over Kiersten Pappas (6-0, 6-3), and Thaggard who took the No. 5 match against E. Erdenebat (6-1, 6-0). Gabriela Celi locked down the sweep for the Mountaineers with her No. 6 victory over E. Desiatnikova (6-0, 7-5).
Appalachian State women's tennis earned its second victory over a three day tournament; today's win against opponent Liberty University.
The Mountaineers (3-1) handed Liberty (0-1) a 6-1 defeat at Greenbrier resort on Sunday, leaving the tournament with back-to-back wins.
In doubles play, the Mountaineer pair of Ellie Linsell and McKenzie LaSure joined for a victory once again as they defeated the Lady Flames' Alexsandra Sheeran and Rebekah Jenkins (9-7) in the No. 1 position. App State doubles Jennifer Ansari and Clare Cox matched up against Jessie Boda and Brittany Yang at the No. 2 spot, while Gabriela Celi and Brianna Amerllino faced Cameron Richard and Valerie Thong in No. 3 doubles; both Mountaineer pairs earning 8-6 victories over Liberty.
Appalachian played well in singles action, as well, as LInsell served Sheeran a loss in No. 1 singles (6-4, 6-0) and Cox defeated Richard for the No. 2 spot (6-4, 6-4). Brittany Yang earned the lone point for Liberty when she defeated Ansari at the No. 3 position (6-3, 6-2). Appalachian remained focused on a win, however, with Jessica Thaggard taking the No. 4 spot for the Mountaineers against Valerie Thong (6-2, 6-2), and Celi defeating Annisha Domenech (6-2, 7-5) for a victory in the No. 6 position.
The Mountaineers will return home to host Radford on February 9 at 3 p.m, followed by North Carolina Central on Feb. 17 at 2 p.m.
