Watauga BOE Adds Closed Session to Agenda PDF Print
Written by Steve Frank

There’s an interesting change in the agenda of a meeting of the Board of Education this evening, with three items added in executive session over the past few days.  The original agenda, posted last week, had only one item, a training session for board members on the e-board solutions system for maintaining board information and documents.  Yesterday, an update to the agenda has three executive session items, including an attorney client matter first, then a personnel matter, and one of student records.  There’s no indication of action pending in any of these matters, but in light of the controversy over an incident involving Superintendent Dr. David Kafitz, it will be closely watched.
On that, a group of supporters of both Watauga County Schools and Mellow Mushroom plan to show their support for both by buying dinner at the King Street restaurant at 5 this afternoon. That was the scene of Dr. Kafitz reportedly making a scene over the discount on his bill back during the holidays.
