![]() Elon’s Ali Ford has been named the Southern Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for games through January 21, the league office announced today. Ford averaged 17 points per game in two wins for Elon last week, helping the team extend its current win streak to six games. Ford went 10-of-20 from the field for a 50 percent shooting percentage and made 5-of-8 three pointers to shot 62 percent from beyond the arc. The senior scored a game-high 21 points against Furman and tied her career high of eight assists. At College of Charleston, Ford finished with 13 points and four assists, while also moving into the SoCon’s top-10 all-time scoring list. Ford is now seven threes away from breaking the SoCon’s all-time record of 315 career three pointers. The Morganton, N.C., native also went a perfect 9-for-9 from the charity stripe and averaged six assists per game last week. Other top performers last week were Appalachian State’s Raven Gary, College of Charleston’s Cathryn Hardy, Davidson’s Laura Murray, Georgia Southern’s Anna Claire Knight, Samford’s Hannah Dawson, Chattanooga’s Kayla Christopher, and Wofford’s Daniella Motley.
