A brother and sister from Newland were hurt when their vehicle hit a patch of ice last night in Avery County and overturned.  James and Tessa Cook were traveling Powder Mill Creek Road just before 9 last night when their ’04 sedan hit the patch of ice, causing James to lose control and skid into the ditch where the vehicle flipped.  First responders found the two at two different locations along Powder Mill Creek Road, Tessa Cook suffering injuries that caused Avery Medics to transport her to Canon Memorial, while the state patrol cited James Cook for Failure to Maintain Lane Control.
