A Valle Crucis area man was airlifted to the Johnson City Medical Center Saturday morning after crashing on his moped near his home.  The accident was in front of 285 Frank Mast Road, and injured 58-year old David Frank Mast who lived several houses down from the scene. Trooper Alexander said that Mast hit his head on the pavement, but otherwise suffered only scrapes and bruises in the 8:10am accident.  Foscoe First Responders and Watauga Medics assessed the injury to Mast and called for the response of WINGS Air Rescue, who landed at a landing zone set up by firemen at Valle Crucis School.  Trooper Alexander said that charges are pending the outcome of medical tests at the Tennessee hospital.
