A fugitive from justice drove himself to the Boone Police department in what police have determined is a vehicle stolen in Indiana. Boone Police have charged Nicholas Lee Mattingly, 55, listing a Banner Elk address, with one count of Felony Possession of Stolen Property as well as being a Fugitive From Justice. Mr. Mattingly is alleged to have stolen a Jeep Cherokee in Indiana before making his way to Boone.  Mattingly was also wanted in Indiana for Felony Possession of Methamphetamine and the Infraction offenses of Driving While Suspended and Expired Plates.  Mattingly reportedly agreed to come to the Boone Police Department to discuss other police matters when he was observed driving the stolen Jeep, according to the police release.  Nicholas Lee Mattingly was subsequently taken into custody for the outstanding charges, then was taken before a Watauga County Magistrate, where he was assigned a court date of February 26th, and held under a $65,000 secured bond.
