The driver of a car that struck the SUV of a Boone family on I-95 just over a week ago has died. 83-year-old Virgil Hicks, of Statesboro, Georgia, died Monday, according to the Gainsville Telegraph. Hicks was critically injured after driving the wrong way on the interstate
just before noon on January 3rd, trying to get off of the highway at an exit as his car struck the SUV of Vachel Miller nearly head-on. Miller’s 10-year-old son, Galen Miller, and his wife, Sarah Miller, were admitted to the hospital along with Virgil and Mary Hicks. All seven in the two vehicles were hurt in the crash that has now claimed the life of the elderly Georgia man.
