$5000 Reward Offered in Art Theft

The reward in the case of an Ashe art theft has been bumped up to $5000 for information leading to the recovery of the art and to the arrest of the suspect. The lithograph, stolen over the holidays in Ashe County, is an Escher Lithograph print, serial No. 53 / 108 entitled, “Ascending and Descending,” was taken from the Glendale /Jefferson area of Ashe County just before Christmas. The Escher lithograph is matted in a silver frame approx 3’ X 4’ and is from Escher’s Recognition and Success series 1955 - 1972. The Ashe Sheriff’s Office has released little on the actual theft, but if you have any information, you could be eligible for the now $5000 reward.  Information should be sent directly to Detective Upchurch at the Ashe County Sheriff’s Office at (336) 846-5600.
