UPDATE: Weather; Wet to White to Windy PDF Print
Written by Steve Frank

So we watched the temperature drop, the wind speeds rise, the rain turn to snow, but so far, not too bad.  BREMCO was reporting just under 300 customers without power, those in far northwestern Ashe, but most of those have been restored, and outages are down to just over 100. Late yesterday, DOT and municipal crews outfitted their trucks with scrapers and solution to keep the roads clear, and some places saw wet roads become icy, then topped by snow, but there are few troubles reported overnight.  Snow totals could be several inches, according to forecasters, especially on western facing slopes.
But the weather is good news for the ski industry and all the businesses that count on those who come to the slopes. Industry figures show that ski slopes can get 25% of their season’s revenue the week of Christmas, and with the cold coming just as the travel is starting for the holiday, it could be well timed for a great week of skiing.
