 Three-star wide receiver Dante Jones from Southeast Raleigh High School in Raleigh, N.C., has made a verbal commitment to sign with Appalachian State
University. Jones only had two scholarship offers. The other coming from nearby Duke University. But Jones had his suitors Connecticut, East Carolina, Kentucky, Maryland, Middle Tennessee, North Carolina State and Wake Forest showed an interest in his talents. This past spring, Jones registered an electronically timed 4.81 40-yard dash, 4.07 20-yard shuttle, 33.4-inch vertical and 94.98 SPARQ at a Nike Combine. Jones is a 5-foot-11, 172-pound wide receiver/defensive back. He had 850 receiving yards and caught 11 touchdown passes his senior year; he also made 26 tackles with two interceptions. Jones amassed 1,160 receiving yards and caught 14 TD passes in his junior and senior years combined. He also made 86 stops with five interceptions during that stretch. National signing day will be February 6, 2013.
