Area law enforcement is looking for a suspect who slashed a 20-year old man at a Deep Gap area residence early this morning. The call came in a minute before 2 this morning at 148 Little Jake Road near the Wilkes line off US 421 Coded as a break-in, the victim was found to have suffered two slashes to his stomach area, another to his arm, inflicted by a man he described as wearing a ski mask, black sweatshirt and camouflage pants. The shift report said the white male kicked in the front door in the home invasion, then attacked the young man with a knife. The suspect was said to have fled the scene jumping into a pickup truck with loud muffler, fleeing back toward Boone on 421.  Authorities in Watauga, Wilkes, and Ashe were put on immediate lookout for the suspect—even with only a sketchy description, while Deep Gap Fire/First responders and Watauga Medics treated the victim.  Investigators were called to the scene to continue the probe, Sheriff Len Hagaman saying the victim was transported for medical treatment by his mother, and injuries were not life threatening. The man told investigators he had no idea who might have attacked him.
