The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's and Women's Swimming Teams broke several school records while two swimmers have qualified nationally after the first full day of competition Saturday at the Nova Southeastern Shark Invitational at the NSU Aquatics

Center. The Lenoir-Rhyne men's squad is currently in fourth place with 198 points while the Bears' women's team has 86 total points, good for seventh place. Nova Southeastern (women) and Florida Southern (men) lead the team rankings with 434 and 440.5 points, respectively, after Saturday's events.
L-R freshman Jonathan Hofrichter (Tampa, Fla.) finished third in the men's 1,000-yard freestyle with a school-record 9:30.13.
Hofrichter's time was also 10 seconds under an NCAA Division II "B" cut time, the standard time for qualifying for the national championships. Hofrichter also qualified nationally with a "B" cut time in the men's 500-yard freestyle (4:38.26) as did freshman Leah Watts (Hickory, N.C.) in the women's 500-yard freestyle (5:07.30). Both times were also school records.
In the 200-yard individual medley, Watts finished 15th on the women's side with a 2:14.38 while sophomore Cody Shaw (Greenville, N.C.) placed 16th overall with a time of 1:58.57 in the men's race.
