![]() Scott Satterfield will be the next football coach at Appalachian State. Satterfield, a former ASU quarterback and a long-time assistant for the Mountaineers who returned last season after three years away from the program, will be named the new head coach of the Mountaineers later today. He will replace Jerry Moore, who did not have his contract renewed after December 2. Satterfeild played for Moore and was ASU's starting quarterback in 1994 and '95, leading the Moutaineers to 21 wins. He was also the ASU's offensive coordinator duing its three-year national championship run (2005-07). Sources close to the situation said that ASU reached the agreement with Satterfield late Thursday, and, pending approval by the university’s board of trustees today, an announcement could come as early as today.
