Boone Fire estimated $40,000 in loss in the Friday fire at Papa John’s Pizza, including some smoke damage to the adjoining TV business and a second level apartment. That estimate included $25,000 to the building and $15,000 to the contents. The fire was called in at 11:09am by a witness
across the street who saw the flames in the ceiling above the oven, and arriving Boone firemen found that fire had gotten into the roofing and had to employ a ladder truck to reach that part of the fire while firemen inside pulled the oven and duct work out of the main kitchen to reach the grease fire. Two engines and a ladder truck were on the scene along with 17 firefighters into the early afternoon mopping up.
