Appalachian State guard Courtney Freeman has been named the Southern Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for all games through December 3. Freeman, a senior guard, started the

week with a 24-point performance in Appalachian State’s overtime win over Xavier. Freeman went 10-20 from the floor (.500) and 4-7 from the free-throw line. She also added eight rebounds and four assists for the Mountaineers.
The Carlton, Ga. native became the 22nd member of Appalachian State Women’s Basketball’s All-Time 1,000 point scorers in the conference opener against GA Southern. Freeman was 7-15 from the floor and 10-10 from the free-throw line for her second consecutive 24-point performance. She also added nine rebounds, three assists and three steals in 28 minutes of play.
Freeman is on track to graduate in December and will continue on with her MBA studies.
Other top performers last week were Appalachian State’s Raven Gary, College of Charleston’s Latisha Harris, Davidson’s Sophia Aleksandravicius, Elon’s Ali Ford, Samford’s Hannah Dawson, and Chattanooga’s Ashlen Dewart.

Courtney Freeman Earns SoCon Student-Athlete of Week

Courtney Freeman, a senior guard for the Mountaineers, has been named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for December 5, the league office announced today.
Freeman became the 22nd player in Appalachian State history to score 1,000 career points when she poured in 24 in a win over Georgia Southern on Monday. She also added nine rebounds in the win and shot 10-of-10 from the charity stripe. The senior also scored 24 points on 10-of-20 shooting and had eight rebounds in an overtime win against Xavier on November 30.
The Carlton, Ga., native holds a 3.79 GPA in Health Care Management and is on track to graduate in December. Freeman plans to continue on with her MBA studies.
