According to Triple A, we have some of North Carolina’s most expensive gasoline here in the High Country. With that in mind, you may want to fill up at a lower elevation as you go down the mountain and through the woods.Gas prices in Johnson City range from 3.09 to almost 3.20. In Greensboro the spread is 3.14 to 3.17
while Morganton and Hickory are higher at around three and a quarter. At 3.10, the cheapest gas in North Carolina is in Hamlet, an appropriately named small community on the South Carolina line. It looks like the best strategy is to fill up on the road. A great source for current prices is GasBuddy.com. You can search by city, state and zip code. Have a safe holiday.
