Yesterday afternoon, the Lenoir Police Department responded to a fatal head on collision. Jack White of Lenoir was traveling northbound on Hickory Blvd and crossed the median into the southbound lanes where his 1994 Plymouth van collided with a southbound 1994 Chevrolet Blazer.  The Blazer was operated by Donald Roper of Lenoir and a passenger, Howard Roper.  Donald Roper and Howard Roper were taken by EMS to Caldwell Memorial Hospital where Howard Roper was pronounced dead due to the injuries he sustained in the crash.  Jack White was also taken to CMH but sustained minor injuries in the crash. At the hospital officers learned that White had consumed alcohol prior to the crash.  Upon his release from the hospital, White was arrested and charged with DWI and Felony Death by Vehicle. White was confined at the Caldwell County Detention Center and under a $30,000.00 secured bond. Investigation into the case will continue with the possibility of further charges.
