Three students enrolled in Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute’s Information Technology Programs recently competed in the IEEE XTREME Programming Competition, a global 24-hour online competition. Robert Swanson, Robert Hardin and David Dunbar made up the team. All three students are members of the school's chapter of IEEE. IEEE, pronounced “Eye-triple-E,” stands for the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. IEEE is the world's largest professional association dedicated to advancing technological innovation and excellence for the benefit of humanity. IEEE and its members inspire a global community through IEEE's highly cited publications, conferences, technology standards, and professional and educational activities. During the competition, the students, who named their team IEcube, received a different programming challenge every hour and attempted to solve the problem using the programming language of their choice. “They entered a worldwide programming competition with very little experience.
